News about Pintia Project

We are already started the campaign!

Mo 07/1/2019

Despite the high temperatures recorded, last Friday we started the XXX Campaign of Excavations in Pintia Archaeological Site with the preparation of the sectors in which we are going to work during this summer in the necropolis of Las Ruedas. In these three sectors we expect to find tomb deposits from the 3rd and 4th centuries B. C. and the results are very encouraging so far, since we have found numerous metal parts and abundant ceramic and bone remains. Thuerefore, the workshop works have also begun with the classification, cleaning and treatment of the different materials.

Next 8th of July we will receive the group of students that make up the XXXVIII International Course, composed of two students from the University of Southern California, six from the Universidad de Valladolid and one from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Directed by the archaeologists of the CEVFW and with the help of the pintians volunteers and the Asociación Cultural Pintia, we hope to repeat the extraordinary results of last season, of such a good memory for the quality of the findings made.

In addition, during the past weekend, we finished preparing the headquarters of the CEVFW to welcome the students and we received the works of the Spanish artists who will participate in the next edition of VacceArte Exhibition, that will take place next fall. Days of intense work to face the summer months, the busiest of the year.

If the plunderers and the plow work have left something in place, the campaign promises to be successful. We will communicate the most important news from this section.
