International Courses: services and facilities


Residential area

  • Office (restricted access).
  • Living and dining room with movie projector, computer, music player and board games (cards, dices, chess…)
  • Permanent Vaccean Culture Museum.
  • WiFi Internet access.
  • Daily home-cooked buffet; food allergies, intolerances and special diets can be adapted.
  • Full room and board included: breakfast (5:30 a.m.), mid-morning snack (10:00 a.m.), lunch (14:30 p.m.) and dinner (21:00 p.m.).
  • At lunch and dinner Ribera del Duero wine will be served to all those interested to taste traditional local wines.
  • Refrigerators.
  • Microwave ovens.
  • Laundry (washing machine & soap included).
  • Kitchen and storage room (restricted access).
  • Large dorm-style room with bunk beds to share, with four adjacent toilets and seven individual showers.
  • All bedding is provided; lockers are also provided.

Other services

  • Linguistic immersion in Spanish is possible.
  • In cooperation with students' universities, obtaining academic credit is possible.
  • Private transport service (subject to conditions and availability).

Excavation area

  • The archaeological site is 500 meters away from the Center's Residential Area. The site is open to the public for guided and unguided tours.
  • All work is permanently led and guided by archaeologists and University professors.
  • Protected working areas with corresponding security elements and sun screens.
  • Working hours: from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and from 17:30 p.m. to 20:30 p.m. (working hours may vary due to weather conditions or due to technical necessities).
  • Labor and Safety plan.
  • Accident insurance included (see conditions).
  • Temporary exhibition unit.
  • Bleachers and space for theater performances.
  • Hard tools warehouse.
  • Resting and shaded area space in a small forest.
  • Mid-morning brunch included: (10:00 a.m.).
  • Walk or mountain-bike ride to the archaeological site (see conditions).

Rural environment

  • Senda del río Duero (path along the Duero river).
  • Peñafiel (4 km away): castle and Provincial Wine Museum, Ribera's House Museum, Regional Sacred Art Museum, Manuel's Chapel and Musuem, Coso square, Clock tower, San Pablo's church and convent, Santa Clara, Santa María and San Miguel de Reoyos' churches. The town has a population of 6,000 and provides all basic services (banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, transport, medical and health centers, hotels, etc.).
  • Castles of Curiel de Duero (10 km away), Villafuerte de Esgueva (30 km away) and Encinas de Esgueva (25 km away).
  • Medieval churches of Las Pinzas.
  • Wine cellars and vineyards (wine tourism).

  • San Miguel de Bernuy (40 km away): canoeing routes in Natural Park Hoces del río Duratón.

  • Roa (27 km away): collegiate church and archaeological park.
  • Duero river bathing area (Quintanilla de Arriba, 5 km away).
